Again, really excited for the Fan4 relaunch. I'd be more excited though if there were fewer variant covers. With all due respect, did we really need seven variants, some of which will be expensive and hard to come by, for the first issue of a book that was just relaunched 16 issues ago? As a longtime fan and completionist collector, I feel a bit like my wallet is being taken advantage of.
It’s only being taken advantage of if you choose to buy all of those variants–that’s a personal choice, not something that you are required to do. The marketplace as a whole has determined that it likes variant covers and wants them, so while that’s the case, we’re going to do them, like it or not. The way for that to change is for the variants to stop driving sales–but at the moment, they still do, so they’re going to be around for a while, sorry.
