Well, if it’s a series about Marvel characters, you don’t. if it’s something new that you’re come up with, you shop it around to publishers that handle that sort of material in the hopes that one of them will want to publish it. Or if you’re really industrious, you self-publish it, or release it digitally online, or any number of other avenues. Last question promise. So if one does have a specific Marvel story to tell, what steps would they take to get to the point where someone WOULD read it?

If you want to be a comic book writer, it’s important to become a writer first, and to be focused on becoming a writer rather than a Marvel writer. To get a foot in the door at Marvel, you need to have published work somewhere, such that one of our editors can read it and become aware of it, and talk to you about pitching something. That’s a solicited submission, and is how we go about bringing new writers into the fold, something we do on a pretty consistent basis.
