When a writer creates a new character does the writer have to get approval from the editor on what to name the character?
Approval is too strong a word, I think. There’s typically a discussion, especially in instances where A) there’s some other character somewhere with the same or a similar name, or B) where people simply don’t like the name that’s being pitched.
