Speaking as a retailer who regularly has to sort out our extensive back issue collection of your output, might I respectfully suggest that if Marvel want to see runs of comics as 'Seasons', there's something on the cover to suggest that the newest launch of Captain America is Issue 1 Volume 8 or something along those lines? it would just make it simpler to explain to casual customers why there are five Fantastic Four issue 1's. and where to start reading from.
I understand the difficult you’re talking about, but I suspect that adding a Volume * on the cover would make the books sell just a little bit less–and that wouldn’t be good for either you or me. My goal is to sell comics by creating great stories, worrying about how readers file their collections (or how you organize the store’s back issues) isn’t really much of a factor.
