Speaking of continuity, what do editors use to keep track of all these characters in the timeline? A software database? Paper maps? A conspiracy wall with yarn and push pins? Is Cap, for example, in space with the fleet or on earth helping Uncanny Avengers? Which happens first? etc... (If there is a conspiracy wall, can we get a pic some time?)

It’s understood that all of the comics being published in a single month aren’t happening at the same time. If they were, guys like Wolverine or Spider-Man would be living impossible lives. So the sequence of events can typically be worked out after the fact, once the stories are completed and can be assessed against one another. But largely it’s not something to worry too much about–we leave that sort of thing mostly in the hands of our Handbook researchers. Apart from that, we use our brains and our mouths to know and communicate this stuff with one another.
