Why doesn't Marvel do a line similar to Vertigo? Is it strictly about it not being that profitable? I recall you saying you guys don't make much money off of the Icon imprint, hence there not being a lot of titles being made under it (since I'm guessing that's mostly an independent endeavor where you only see a percentage through distribution or something) but I do remember the Epic line being great. Anybody at Marvel thinking of reviving that or doing something similar but improved in any way?
Not really. As you know, we’re in business to make money, and we do so by creating great stories that people want to read. So we’ll publish anything that we think fits the bill-but there’s no percentage in publishing stuff that even we don’t think is going to perform well, just because a few people will like it. There’s no guarantee on anything, but there needs to be some basic expectation that a project is going to have legs before we commit to doing it (even if it turns out that it doesn’t in the end.)
