I just saw on a forum there a fan post that he only realized he had 470 marvel comics written by Chris Claremont. That wasn't even every Claremont comic. Has he written more marvel comics than any other writer that's been on the payroll?

No, I wouldn’t think so. Stan Lee has certainly written more, and assuming that number is accurate, I’m guessing that Brian Bendis probably has as well at this point. And possibly a few others.
