I think any push to get more women reading & creating Marvel comics is terrific but I disagree w- the example that there should be more women on the NYCC Avengers panel. Frankly, the reality is the female talent pool in comics in general is limited. There has never been a Female Grant Morrison or Alan Moore, & the goal should be cultivating the best talent of any gender, not stuffing the bench with minor leaguers for false equivalency's sake. You don't publish a SHANG-CHI comic by Asian writers.
Saying that there’s never been a female Alan Moore or Grant Morrison pre-assumes that there could never be a female Moore or Morrison–which is the essence of the problem these people are talking about. The playing field hasn’t quite been level. I don’t really believe in a quota system, but neither do I believe that there’s any type of person who aren’t potentially capable of creating great comics.
