I really don't think it's unreasonable to expect that a new series carrying on the name of an old, beloved series will have some connecting tissue, otherwise why not just call it "Young Hero Dudes 2013" (although, that would be an awesome title). NEW WARRIORS was popular back in the day and people who remember the series would love to see a book that actually WAS worthy of the original and not just an old name on a new book.

Well, sure. But there’s a difference between having some connective tissue and just xeroxing the earlier series. For one thing, there’s probably a reason the earlier series went away, and it likely had to do with not enough people following it regularly, so just doing the same thing again isn’t likely to get you a better result (and is only going to be meaningful for a relatively small percentage of your overall potential audience..) In the case of NEW WARRIORS, I think that if I just showed you the promo art that we revealed and asked you to name the series, you could. And that tells me that there’s enough connective tissue, in that the average reader can identify it on sight as NEW WARRIORS.
