I've heard time and again that we fans vote with our dollar and that our purchases let you know what we do and don't like. How do we let you know when we love the writing but hate the art? How do you determine whether or not fans like both? There are times when the art is just not doing it for me in almost every way but the story is too good to just drop. I fear for the day where the story won't be worth it to me just because the artist doesn't match IMO
You can’t really fine-tune your message that much, I’m afraid. But how we tell if the art is working is if the artists does three projects and they all perform well, then the art is probably doing just fine. And ultimately, if you’re buying the book for the story and the art isn’t deterring you, that’s part of the message as well.
