  • Now that we're some years removed from the controversy over Disassembled and Wanda's kids (for now!) I was curious what you thought, as a reader, of the decision to let Vision and Scarlet Witch have children in the first place. Much as I respect Steve Englehart, the comics took years to convince us that they could be a couple, and then in one issue he tried to convince us that they could have kids using magic. Even before Byrne came along it just felt like it made this great romance seem silly

I didn’t necessarily love the execution of how it was done, but I didn’t have a problem with them having kids per se, as a reader. On the other hand, it was one of the steps those characters went through in the 80s that led them into a bit of a storyline cul-de-sac and which led, I believe, to their loss of popularity and relevance for a number of years, one that even today they haven’t fully recovered from. And it’s possible that was inevitable, but I think it’s always a god idea to really stare at the situation before you decide to give super heroes kids.
