Tom, do you feel like some characters are forced to revolve around certain elements? Like Jean can't ever escape the Phoenix story. X-23 always has to deal with the "trigger scent". Stuff that no matter what always sneaks into a story with them. Its tiresome, y'know?

I think that’s like asking if every Hulk story needs to be about him being mad, or that Spider-Man should just shut up about responsibility. There are certain particular things that define these characters, and while those elements can always be used either well or poorly, they are the aspects that most define those characters. It’s not a matter of being forced, it’s a matter of those being the things that most naturally come to mind when the character in question is considered.
