i was curious on your opinion on the divergence between characterization in Comics in respect to movies and cartoons; i noticed recently how different were the comic classical approaches to Thor and his ilk, and the movie ones, getting further from godly "Beyond superhuman" mistical territory and delving into "space alien fantasy" as in the movies or "dude with lightning hammer" of the cartoons. Do you try to keep comics different, or do you try to change them to suit the others?
I think that if you look over the fifty year history throughout which we’ve been publishing THOR, you’ll see assorted different approaches to what you’re talking about. Even Stan and Jack’s approach to the character and his world changed on a regular basis–their first ten issues and their last ten issues together it’s virtually a different character. So for each medium, and for each era, you select whatever it is that you think will work best for what you’re doing. And this applies to all of the characters really, not just Thor.
