Apologies if this isn't new, but it seems like it to me so I will proceed from that premise. What's up with having multiple artists on one miniseries? I see it's happening in "Infinity" and I remember the whiplash I got switching between artists on "Avengers Vs. X-Men." It just feels odd to me that miniseries (or at least event comics) can't have a coherent visual style anymore. Why not carefully select the artist whose work best compliments the story you are telling and stick with him/her?
Because in terms of big Event series specifically, those kinds of stories tend to perform better and be received better when they are delivered more rapid-fire and in a shorter duration of time. And in 2013, there are typically very few artists who can deliver that amount of work that quickly, and not at the level that you’d want on an Event book. It seems somewhat counter-intuitive to me as well, but I’m an old guy–and there’s no arguing with the result. You guys have illustrated with your dollars and your walking shoes that you’d rather have a series come out more rapidly than have it be produced by the same artist, so long as the quality of all of the artists involved is high.
