  • When can we expect a Howard The Duck ongoing?

    Not this week! I think HOWARD is a really tough sell these days. In the 70s, it was something of a crossover comic, a book that strattled the line between a Marvel book and the sort of thing being done in underground comics. But that particular counterculture zeitgeist has long since changed, and so the specific itch that HOWARD scratched (to say nothing of the specific nostalgia for the Disney Duck comics that it traded on) no longer exists. You’d practically have to reinvent it from the ground up.

    3. leviathan0999 said: Gotta say, too, that Howard’s initial success was all about Steve Gerber. The art was uniformly wonderful, but the book worked because it carried Gerber’s unique, skewed, twisted point of view and his willingness to go full-tilt after his targets.
