  • Tom, I am curious, do you remember the sequence in Incredible Hulk #601 when Bruce talks Skaar to a comic book store? Well, there's the little joke with Skaar reading an issue of Marvel's CONAN and I was wondering how the legal problems with CONAN factored in that? It seems a bit unusual that you would get away with that, considering I've bought a trade in the past that replaced 6 pages with a wall of text summing up what was on those pages because they featured the character!

That little gag represented fair usage–there is a CONAN comic that exists in the world that Skaar could have looked at. That’s different from reprinting material featuring characters to whom Marvel no longer has the rights.
