The average Marvel editor has a goodly amount of creative impact, but it varies from situation to situation. Our editors aren’t looking to write the books, in other words. But for example, MIGHTY AVENGERS exists because I saw the opportunity and came up with the underlying concept for the series, but it was Al Ewing who defined the premise of the book and who writes it, with guidance from me. And yesterday, I brainstormed a new and stronger ending for an issue of UNCANNY AVENGERS with Rick Remender, and pointed out some other weaknesses in his first draft that he’ll revise. But every creator is different, the way they work is unique to them, so it’s important to try to provide them with what they need to get the job done well.
