  • You seem to say the same thing whenever there are complaints about a writer or artist on a book, yet I'd be willing to bet huge stacks of cash that Bendis, Fraction, Land et al generate far more of these complaints than Waid or Peter David or any of a number of various talents. Aren't some writers and artists just more controversial in their decisions and storytelling and interviews and that may be why they engender these various "haters" to use popular vernacular?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. What is absolutely true, whether you’re Brian Bendis or Peter David, is that the bigger the book you’re working on, the more complaints and “haters” there are. Which stands to reason–there are more people reading the book, and more people who are emotionally invested in the characters. And I would bet all the money that you’re talking about that if Peter was writing ALL-NEW X-MEN and Waid was writing AVENGERS right now, they’d have just as many people upset and irate. There’s always going to be the additional factor of the personality of the individual, of course, but it’s not as great a factor as you might think. Just ask Peter or Mark about the fans they’ve heard from who haven’t liked something they’ve done.
