Well, you ask why we're no more happy with Hickman than with Bendis - neither feel like the way AVENGERS felt from 1963-2003, with Avengers Mansion, Jarvis, Wasp making new costumes all the time, "the old order changeth!" etc etc. Some of those elements appear periodically but it feels like a big stretch to say that the "old school" Avengers feel has appeared in the main books - not counting Slott's MIGHTY, or UNCANNY (both of which are good old-school books) - in quite some time.
So except for UNCANNY, a book that we’re publishing right this moment and that was the kickoff for this MARVEL NOW! era. What are you complaining about then? It’s crazy and even destructive for every book to read the same way–I want each of the assorted AVENGERS titles to have its own mission statement and flavor, and to do its own thing, so that there’s something for every possible type of reader. I don’t necessarily expect you to love them all, but I expect that there will be something that will appeal to you–and there is, it’s UNCANNY! (I expect that you’ll also like the new MIGHTY when it comes out in a month or so…)
