Tom, what's your opinion on writers heavily using contemporary lingo/slang in their books? I recently went back and read a lot of my 70s and early 80s avengers books. I found that certain writers work was very dated and harder to enjoy.
I think that you’re writing the stories for the period in which they come out, so that’s primary. But given that, there’s nothing that says that you specifically need to date your language–it’s a choice that each writer makes. Some like to do more, and some less. And the reality is that every story we do is going to date in some manner over the course of time.
