I’ve been hearing a lot about the stress of deadlines on scripts and art. I’m starting to understand that creators tend to have multiple commitments and that producing good art takes time. Still I cant help but wonder, is it really that hard to keep up? Is the stress of a monthly title too much for 9/10 months straight? May there be a little something to be desired in the way of discipline/ time management? Not complaining, just wondering how manga is weekly when it seems to take so long to draw

Manga is weekly because most Manga artists are using dozens of typically overworked and underpaid assistants to do a lot of the lifting for them. It’s a very different model. And yes, it is absolutely that hard to do the quality of work that you as a reader demand and still keep up. Like most professionals, our artists often make it look easy, such skill they possess, but it’s anything but–as the hordes of aspiring artists who are trying to break into the field can tell you.
