  • Tom, why does the contract holder for your deliveries to book stores and Amazon take longer than Diamond? Seems extremely implausible that it takes them two to three extra weeks to deliver something.

    You can think what you think, but the difference is that all Diamond does is ship comics–that’s the sum total of their business and the focus of their operation. Whereas in traditional bookselling pipelines, comics are simply one more product category, and in general there isn’t the same demand for a specific release schedule on most of what drops–for the most part, bookstore customers don’t go to the bookstore every Wednesday (or Tuesday in their case) to pick up the new books. So the concerns and approaches of those channels are different.
