New Brevoort Formspring

Tom, I've wanted to start writing my own graphic novel and I'm at very early stages of developing the idea. I keep running into bumps with character motivations. I feel like a new detective on his first day in the SVU division, and i keep having these solutions that seem to change the entire theme of what I'm writing. Should I give up? Keep re-working? Is there a solution to this? I know the story I want to tell and the message that should be in it... I can't seem to get the pieces aligned right
