Thanks to the Anon who asked: "Why is Marvel pushing away its long-time fan base?" I have to follow that up with this: Do you feel that the biggest issue facing a publisher right now (beyond selling books, etc) is trying to find a balance between evolving a property so it can become worthwhile while also trying to keep the core tenants that make it great? I feel like if the internet had existed in the 70s, Marvel never would have tried the experiments that we regard as classic.
Forget about the 70s, Stan Lee would have been driven crazy in the 60s when all of this stuff was starting out. So I don’t know if it’s the biggest issue–we tend to be relatively good at doing that–but it’s certainly something that needs to be contended with.
