To me, the biggest problem with Geoff Johns' run was that he was thrust right into a decompressed six issue arc which was the standard for Marvel at the time and very different than the sort of pacing he was used to over at DC. I don't think it went that poorly, but it wasn't up to his standards. I didn't love Kollins' art on the She-Hulk arc but that is subjective and I won't hold it against the book. Ultimately, though, the biggest problem was that his run just wasn't long enough to take off.

I think you’re misremembering a few things here. Geoff’s first arc was four issues in length, #57-60. And the arc you’re thinking of, the one that got all of those cries of “decompression” went from being initially pitched as 5 issues to being 6, so that we could enter the story in a more welcoming way, and make the stakes legitimate. So this is one of those cases where perception became reality for a lot of people.
