Natasha Romanoff got /way/ more exposure out of the Avengers movie, and in a much more leading-lady context, than in Iron Man 2. Personally, I'm pretty sure you already have a Black Widow solo in the pipeline and you're waiting for the right moment to announce it. Otherwise, that answer is BAFFLING to me.
It’s not really baffling. The previous Marjorie Liu BLACK WIDOW series had just ended, and so the consensus was that it would be a real uphill struggle to get readers and retailers on board for another series launch that soon again.
