Hawkeye & Mockingbird and Hawkeye Blindspot had similar sales to Black Widow's last book, yet a top writer is writing a Hawkeye book alongside one of Marvel's best artists while Black Widow didn't even get a limited series or a one shot by a mediocre writer and artist when the film came out and the buzz racked up.

HAWKEYE was more successful for a longer period of time, and also had the advantage of having a writer who was interested in doing a series who had a good idea for it. We can’t publish everything all at once, you know–we need to pick and choose our shots based on what we think stands the best chance of success. If Matt had had an idea for Black Widow and it was equally good, we might have done that series instead–but that wasn’t the way it went down.
