I agree about every generation deserves their own superheroes at their age, but wasn't that the point of the Ultimate Universe? And also I would imagine given the economics of comic collecting that the majority of your audience are people who grew up with your books. If your majority audience wants your characters to grow with them, isn't it bad business not to give it to them?

No, it’s the exact opposite–it’s how you avoid being buggy whip salesmen. The fact of the matter is that the Marvel characters need to be able to appeal to and attract new audiences, because the older audiences are all going to die one day. Focusing your efforts on a dwindling base is the surest route to extinction–and while you and I may be dead and gone by that point, Marvel will go on, if we do it right.
