Re: the ages of characters. Well, I dunno; we had no problems with early-middle-aged Marvel characters (Reed and Ben, Professor X) when we were ten years old. While there seems to be little to be gained by explicitly stating the ages of characters, doesn't it make the Marvel Universe a richer place if kids get to see perspectives of multiple generations, as they do in real life? (Me, I've aways thought of these heroes as freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors, based on years of experience)

Spoken like an old guy who wants his heroes to grow up with him. Nobody wants to see any of these characters be less that viral, less than at their best–but particularly kids coming in. These characters need to be able to relate to them and hook them in the same way they hooked you.
