Was it Liefeld's idea to re-launch NEW MUTANTS as X-FORCE, or editorial's? Did they tell him that was the plan and have him pitch? And not that it's the most brilliant name -- it's actually ridiculously stupid in an EXTREEM!1 90s way -- but who came up with the title? Did you know that one of the episodes of BEAVIS & BUTT-HEAD that MTV banned after airing only a few times had the boys graffiti-ing "X-Force" on someone's roof? Liefeld X-Force seemed like the perfect book for them to like.

I think you’d have to ask Rob here. The notion of X-FORCE was cooked up by him and Bob Harras, but I couldn’t tell you who came up with what. I do know that Bob never liked the NEW MUTANTS name, so he’d at least have been very open to changing it.
