  • Does each individual series need to sell well enough to be profitable on their own, or do the higher-selling titles subsidize lower-selling ones? Do you ever keep unprofitable titles going just because they're high in quality?

    Every Marvel book needs to carry its own water–the sales of some titles do not amortize other books, each book needs to perform unto itself or it will meet its end. Occasionally there may be some project that we’ll underwrite for a larger reason, such as big bookstore sales or reuse of the material in other channels. But those sorts of projects tend to not be Marvel Universe books.
