I think it may have been Will Eisner who said essentially that if you do too many cosmic stories, you lose sight of the common stories. Do you think Marvel is going through a bit of that? Everything I read has multiple planets and universes in danger- almost makes Galactus seem quaint in comparison. I just feel maybe the big stories are topping each other to a point where I don't have any reaction to the stakes anymore because there's an overload on my part.
That can be a danger, sure. The trick is to find the common story in the cosmic story. Scale isn’t the problem, relatability is. And this is a pendulum like any other. Remember just a few years ago when it seemed like everybody was asking when the Marvel characters were going to “stop having all of these ground level adventures and fight something big”? Well, there you go.
