In the Preview to GotG#4 Iron Man wants a way to contact Earth. However, in Avengers its shown that he has an armor on Earth that he can control despite being light years away, and is in constant contact with Earth. Was this written before it was decided that there needed to be a way for Iron Man to be in other series despite being in space?

I would argue that one leads to the other, since in that GUARDIANS issue Tony is still only newly with the Guardians. So Rocket gives him the tech, and Tony figures out how he can use it to carry the telepresence signal that would allow him to run one of his earthbound armors remotely even from deep space.
