  • Why do you think people get so worked up about death in comics? Marvel comics are an endless soap so if someone dies, it is more like the flu than anything serious. Surely the only important thing is that the death itself has meaning *within* the story it happens. Best, Charles

    People get worked up because they’re invested in the characters and their relationships, which is exactly what you want to have happen when you’re creating fiction. If characters were dying and nobody was batting an eye, we’d have a serious problem on our hands, and would likely be out of business shortly thereafter.
