I made the first Arena comment, but not the second. But saying the book features Mettle when "featuring" means killing him off in the very first issue seems a bit disingenuous, doesn't it? You can argue Academy wasn't quite Initiative, but both were at least about training younger characters, so had that thematic link at least. And most importantly, it didn't start by immediately killing an Initiative character for nothing but shock value. And that claim that was "development" for the character.
