It’s set in the future, and no story set in the future is ever absolutely set in continuity–the real future of Marvel is next month’s comic books. But a good story is a good story, regardless, and if it’s a story that gets traction with the audience and other creators, then people will begin to foreshadow its elements, in the same manner that there’s been years of publishing foreshadowing The Dark Knight Returns.
