Were reed Richards and prof. X friends or at least know of eachother before the x-men and FF started? Also didnt reed make the x-mens original uniforms?

I can’t recall any indication that Reed and Xavier knew one another before then. And no, Reed didn’t make the original X-Men uniforms, he simply discovered the existence of the Unstable Molecules from which they were eventually composed.
