  • The problem I have with Deconnick is not that she is married to another Marvel writer. That is irrelevant. It is not that she is female. We need more women in all areas of comics. It is that she and her husband, Matt Fraction, are not good writers. Period. And it is from this perspective that it is clear that it is not what you know, but who you know at Marvel. They both need to go work on their own properties and leave the superheroes to those that are competent in the genre.

    I’m not sure how you get from your premise to your conclusion, as neither Matt nor Kelly Sue were hired based on who they knew, but on the basis of work that they’d done elsewhere. I certainly don’t agree with your assessment of their abilities, but you’re entitled to your opinion and your taste–if you don’t care for their work, we put out a lot of other comics that you could follow instead.
