I don't know much about Marvel's culture, but there is a thing called unconscious discrimination in hiring. For example, almost all CEOs are above average height but no one consciously says "we can promote him, he's too short." They think the CEO pick is based totally on merit, but it's not.

Okay, well, short of having a “Short CEO Quota” that forces us to hire short guys for such positions because we can’t otherwise be trusted to evaluate their credentials irrespective of height, I don’t know what could be done about that. And especially when it comes to creative works, I don’t think hiring on the basis of any sort of quota system results in the best books. We need writers and artists of extraordinary ability, regardless of how tall they might be.
