In regard of George RR Martin writing for Marvel, how about he writes an out-of-continuity mini-series or OGN? That way no one has to worry about his "no retconning" demand, it'll be non-applicable.

If you go back and read what he said when he was asked about it, this is clearly not what he wants to do.
