  • "the continuity exists to service the stories, the stories do not exist to service the continuity" - and this appears to be true for the whole of the line since you've been in charge. But what about the not-insignificant proportion of your audience who vehemently disagrees with this proposition, who longs for something more traditional? Why can't you set aside a few projects for those of us who still care about Marvel's history? We'd buy them, I promise.

I think that the not-insignificant proportion of our audience that vehemently disagrees with that proposition are, quite simply, wrong, so I don’t worry about it all that much. We do crazy amounts of projects that touch on and tap into Marvel’s history in a myriad of ways–look at any Previews catalogue and you can find them. They might not be exactly what you want, they may not be to your tastes, but Marvel’s history is a part of the overall storytelling. But if you expect us to forgo the vast majority of our audience to focus on the predilections of a small group of hardcore fans, or for us to write boring textbooks rather than vibrant stories, I’m afraid that you’re in for some disappointment.
