Why has Marvel killed off every version of Nightcrawler, yet we have 3 Cyclops, 3 Beasts, 2 of Iceman, 2 of Angel and half a dozen Jean look-a-likes in addition to the original? Redundant much? I'll go with Cyke and Jean being popular, but there is NO WAY Iceman, and Angel are more popular or iconic than Nightcrawler is. I'm not saying it has to be the original resurrected, though that'd be nice. I'd be happy with an AU version floating around and getting developed. No, blue imps don't count.
I find your count a little bit odd, but in simplest terms, the reason that there are two Angels and Icemen (and Beasts and Jeans and Cyclopses) is that all five were members of the original team, the one that was brought to the present. That’s the premise of the story that’s being told in those books at the moment. If the premise had been that it was the All-New, All-Different X-Men that were brought to the present, then you’d have 2 Colossuses, 2 Storms, 2 Sunfires and a Banshee and a Thunderbird, among others. So I sort of think that you’re railing at something that has no bearing whatsoever on the thing that you’re actually upset about–the fact that Nightcrawler died. Characters die sometimes in fiction, that’s all there is to it.
