I feel like you’re trying to stack your argument here a little bit by mentioning those creators. But especially if you look back at the Stan and Jack Doom appearances, you’ll see that he lies all the time, and is despicable. His veneer of respectability and honor is one of convenience–it’s how he wants to see himself, but when push comes to shove, he’ll do whatever self-serving thing is necessary. I prefer Doom and most other villains as nuanced characters, with the potential to make interesting choices and to surprise people by their behavior. But that doesn’t mean that their sense of honor isn’t situational–that’s part of what makes them villains, after all.
