Dear Tom, i just have a question about a relatively old issue (November 2011) hoping you could answer this. In Journey Into The Mystery 627 there is a instance where we see demons such as Chthon, Cyttorak and Shuma Gorath among other come for a Satanic meeting and discuss about Serpent on earth, yet none of them actually chooses to go up against Serpent. Was it Marvel intention to show, using that scene, that Cul was superior to those demons like say Shuma or Cyttorak? Thanks in advance :)
When you say “Marvel’s intention”, you start to get into a little bit of trouble in an instance like this. Marvel doesn’t write the stories, individual creators do. That was a scene that Kieron Gillen came up with and executed. Beyond what was directly there on the page, you’d have to ask Kieron about what his intent was–but I don’t think it was what you’re asking about particularly.
