  • Have all of the well-received comics-based movies helped bring in new readers in significant numbers? I'm sure it's not easy to determine, but I hope that along with the regulars trying new books there are "newbies" who decide to see if comics are for them. Do comic shops give you feedback that would lead you to believe this is happening?

    It’s pretty clear that the films are bringing new people to what we do (and bringing lapsed readers back), but I think most of them are coming in either through book collections or through digital rather than via the typical monthly serialized releases sold through specialty shops. That’s what they’re more familiar with, and what they’re comfortable with, for the most part. And also, like the fans who have been reading all along, some of them go away along the way for a variety of reasons, too.
