  • Hi. Huge Sub-Mariner fan. Thanks for putting him in New Avengers. I would love to see him in his own book. Why do you think Namor cannot maintain his own book, like Thor, Iron Man or Hulk? I think he is just as good a character, if not more so, than these other guys. As Marvel's first character, one would think that he has broader appeal. I find him to be a very interesting character. What are your thoughts on this? Also, any plans for the character outside of New Avengers?

    I think part of what’s tough with Namor is that most of the time he’s in an underwater civilization, and we’ve never really succeeded in making that environment or civilization all that interesting–it all to often plays as Conan underwater or something. So right there, there’s a disconnect to the audience–why should anybody care about the problems of these pseudo-barbarians under the water? It’s the sort of problem that somebody will eventually lick.
