Why does no one seem to understand that Alex's position re "mutant" is ALEX'S position--not necessarily anyone else's? Also, I think especially after seeing Scott's tunnel-vision focus on "being mutants" to the exclusion of common human identity, it would encourage Alex to want to take a huge step back from that. Even if it was a step too far (or maybe, gosh, his views are gradually changing, and from this thesis and antithesis he will reach synthesis later), I think it's quite understandable.
Everybody is tending to react to this issue from their own point of view, and mostly from a very personal place–often, a place where they feel that Marvel Comics (as opposed to one character in Marvel Comics) is refuting their life or background or choices (and not even the character is doing that really–but that’s how some people feel about it.)
