So with Chase and Niko in Avengers Arena, and Victor in Avengers AI, it seems safe to say we're not seeing a new Runaways series anytime soon. Why is that? I know online support is not the same as real world support, but it feels like there's a solid base out there for these characters. I realize it's a matter of the right creators making the right pitch, but the Marvel NOW era seems like the perfect opportunity to relaunch the series. Was there any consideration for new Runaways at all?
Yes, somewhat, but RUNAWAYS has a bit of a built-in problem, as really the story and the set-up that began in RUNAWAYS #1 was wrapped up by the end of BKV’s run. That’s an essential problem that subsequent writers haven’t been able to lick long-term, nor have we in editorial, and it’s a pretty fatal flaw. I think that if RUNAWAYS was to come back, it would have to return very different than when it went away. And this way, the characters at least continue to be an active and visible part of the Marvel Universe.
