Hi Tom! I'm fairly new to comics ("Fear Itself" was my first crossover event) so I hope this isn't too dumb of a question. I've seen you say a few times now that Age of Ultron is happening right now in the Marvel universe, that it's not some future or alternate reality thing. I just don't get how that works. Because right now, Wolvie is at his school in Westchester, and it's still standing. And in AoU he's one of the last heroes in a destroyed world. How can both be really happening? Thanks!

It can be happening in the same way that Wolverine is battling a mysterious entity in WOLVERINE and also stalking around the savage land in SAVAGE WOLVERINE, and also dealing with matters at the school in WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN. All of those stories are happening “now” as well. It’s only once all of them are completed that you can put their individual events into some manner of sequential order. Same thing here. I understand that you’re confused because the scale of the events in AGE OF ULTRON seem to be so much more Earth-shattering than those in, say, SAVAGE WOLVERINE, but the process is exactly the same. Once everything is wrapped up, you’ll be able to clearly understand what happens in what order–and see how it’s all happening now in a relative sense. See?
