What a surprise, the old straight white man thinks he can tell a minority how to live and defines themselves. So offensive.

I think you’re confusing a character in a story talking about a fictional super-powered type of being with a political statement of some kind about you specifically–regardless of what minority you represent. Characters speak to their individual point of view, not necessarily that of the writer, not necessarily that of the other characters.
